different.

the past haunts us sometimes.
a new year brings about new beginnings.
so i'm trying to leave everything bad behind and look.
this time, i think i'm going to look ahead.

BACK! in Shanghai

Since my daddy seems so busy at the moment, i shall post the pictures in another post next time. Anyway, before you decide to scream at me or whatever, let me explain why i have not blogged in 3 days. I WENT TO BEIJING DURING THE WEEKEND!!!and i totally forgot to wish YN a happy birthday, so YN, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!

Below is a what i did on both days, not all that interesting, but still.

22NOV2008 SATURDAY

After 10 hours of train ride, we reached BeiJing around 7.10a.m.
We went for breakfast, then the driver dad hired brought us to The Great Wall of China to climb part of it, since it's impossible to climb the entire wall unless you have nothing better to do or you're just dumb. That was definitely the coldest place we went in BeiJing cos the rest of the places were not as cold as that. Then again, it should be colder due to the altitude and all. hahas. Anyway, the surrounding was super cool. Mountains and Mountains and Mountains. The view was simply breathtaking~

ok. i'm getting carried away.

Next, we went for lunch cos we actually spent half a day climbing up and down the Great Wall. Blahs. Boring to read right?

The driver then drived around bringing us to the BIRD NEST STADIUM and THE WATER CUBE,which is super super cool even though we didn'tpay to go in the places, but they have not removed the Olympic stuff from the place yet. hahas. On the way, we passed the Olympic Village which is ALMOST deserted since nobody stays in the apartments anymore since Olympic is over. Imagine MichaelPhelps staying in one of the apartments. hahas. The Olympic Village really lives up to its name.it's really like a village cos the area is HUGE! hahas. Honestly, Spore is not big enough to sacrifice so much space to make an Olympic Village as big as this one in BeiJing.

anyway, we discovered later on that we still had some time, so we went to some place known as the Temple Of Heaven, which is another huge place and seems more like a garden with some buildings. Ancient Buildings. I don't get it how the people have to build such a ginormous temple just for the emperor to go there to pray for a good harvest the following year. Anyway, the designs on the walls were similar to that of the Forbidden City, similar colours and dragons and stuff.

23NOV2008 SUNDAY
Today we didn't hire any driver so we took cabs around.

We went to the imperial palace also known as the Forbidden City. The place is impressively huge. The front door itself was a massive structure with the walls really realy thick.
In the place, you'd see how much the people must have suffered simply bringing in the slabs of marble into the capital to build the palace. Almost every step is made of marble, not to mention a design on each slope.
But i'd say that the doors were the most impressive thing in the palace. the doors were all red and gold, and looked striking and beautiful. hahas. lack of description. ya, i know. but whatever.
In any part of the palace that is above ground level, look around in all directions, and all you see are roofs and roofs and more roofs. it's really like a city considering its size on its own.
The garden is way more beautiful. in an ancient kind of way. They have trees entwined together forming one tree at the top which is really bootiful, plus the barks of the trees are so smooth making the tree appear as if its fake, but its not.

enough bout the palace. After that, we went shopping! hahas. but we didn't buy anything though. there was nothing very impressive that we haven't seen in Shanghai. hahas. however i finally got a chance to try the "bing tang hu lu" which tastes super nice! hahas. u should try it. it's sweet, warm and slightly sour, making it super tasty in winter time. hahas.

We had picking duck for dinner at some known restaurant called the "Quan Ju De" where the chefs actually slice the entire duck in front of you. Anyway, its not as impressive as expected, since i seriously think the one we ate at Takashimaya was better than this one.

So after that we went back to the train station to take the train back to Shanghai. Guess what train did we take? we took "THE OLYMPIC TRAIN" back to shanghai. hahas. my mum was joking the entire trip that Phelps might have slept on the very bed i was sleeping on, but i know i'm never that lucky. hahas. but i'd say i'm lucky enough to be able to sit the olympic train back to shanghai instead of some normal train. hahas.

THOUGHTS
1.i have no idea how in the world people managed to walk so much in the past considering the fact that the places are Ginormous.

2. TBC. i can't think of anything else now. hahas.

long overdue post

ok. this is a way WAY overdue post, and since i have nothing better to do, i shall post it. the 2 days before i left for shanghai. sounds like a report of what i'm doing eh? well, it's not. i just felt like posting it.

12NOVEMBER2008
my dearest TTC and i went to BUGIS STREET, cos XL promised to bring me there, and so we went. i know you're gonna think i'm like SUPER SLOW or something since i've never been to BUGIS STREET, but whatever. my first impression of the place was it's just like some shopping district with good bargains in China. Just cleaner. Anyway, i managed to buy earrings and a hoodie(finally.) that my mum thinks its ugly.

i'm so not gonna point out to you who is who in these pics. too bad for you. just figure out yourselves. and i'm not gonna release and post pictures of me "zi-lianing" before that cos i'm not that obsessed with myself. too bad for you! hahas.

13NOVEMBER2008

I went to Orchard with BQ!!!! We arranged to meet such that we'd take the same LRT then take a train to Orchard! and when we finally reached the stop, we lost our way! for a short while. DON'T LAUGH. after we FINALLY managed to get to Wisma, we decided to indulge ourselves in cheesecake and coffee at STARBUCKS, and you have no idea how much a cheesecake can fill your tummy. We could not even finish the cheesecake, and that was our lunch!

Then we just walked around and window-shopped, and we walked all the way to Somerset. I got to admit, Orchard is the nicest place around Christmas time. i'm so gonna find someone to go with me when i'm back in Singapore. Speaking of which, i finally found the cd i've been finding for a long time!! for people who have no idea what i was finding, its called "Disney Channel Holiday". Oh. and my shoe "spoiled" while we were there, so i had to buy a pair of slippers that my mum thought were too small. hahas. oh well. i won't wear it out then.

I really LOVE BQ for going all the way to Orchard with me since most of the time i was doing the shopping. LOL. THANKS BQ!! hope you read this post..

Anyway, here's some pics of the day out, BQ's that babe with the specs for people who don't know her. hahas. or, she's the girl other than me.

saw the pics? dont comment on me. i know i'm like fat and all, so SHUSH! just read and look at the pics. hahas.

Untitled.

it's not really untitled. just i have no idea what to put as a heading.

apparently, i managed to chiong the entire Heroes Season 2 in one day. not because i sacrificed my sleep or anything. it's because there's only 11 episodes. so now i have no more dramas to watch. wait. i do. i have Gossip Girl Season 1 to watch. but then again, i dont feel like watching now. i think i wanna watch The Coffee Prince again. maybe i should watch the korean dramas we left in Shanghai previously. my mum says there's Full House here, so maybe i'll watch that.

now i have no idea what to write. write again soon!

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Finally.

finally. i have the time to blog. Actually i can blog everyday, just that i've been watching dramas since i came to shanghai.

Oh ya! i FINALLY watched The Coffee Prince!!! been wanting to watch it but could never find the time earlier this year. I finished watching Heroes Season One in two days!! It's weird that Ben was sitting beside me and watching heroes...

That's not the main point. The most important thing is, I FOUND HSM3 DANCE IN SHANGHAI!! i cleared all the sets in sophomore year so i'm going to try Junior year today. The dance steps dont really tally and the songs seemed to have been RE-sang, but whatever. IT'S HSM!!

Recently i have not taken any interest in going out, so the only days i went out was on Saturday and Yesterday. Yesterday i spent the most money, as my mum continues to nag at me for spending so much... but hey! it's not wrong to want a "I LOVE STAGE" cap and get two bags to carry out in Singapore... Oh ya. And to get 2 sweaters that i think are not really all that girly in any way and recently i don't really feel like dressing girly.

I really want to post what i did the 2 days before i left for Shanghai, but i don't feel like doing so at the moment. will post some other time. PROMISE. I'm thinking of watching Heroes Season 2 today, but i believe i might want to take a break from Heroes for the moment to do some stuff i have not been doing since i started watching dramas.

To those who're not in Shanghai now, i can tell you Shanghai is not all that cold at the moment. It's just like being in a giant air con room. I mean, i can wear a tee and track pants at my dad's apartment without a heater on. Speaking of which, my dad changed his apartment this year and now we're on the 29th floor instead of the 9th. For peeps out there who have no idea, i can tell you that i'm only on the 27th floor, cos the Chinese here are SO superstitious that they have removed the 13th and 14th floor of the building. Also, this new apartment looks much older and slightly broken down as compared to the previous apartment, which i think that owner has better taste than the owner of this apartment i'm in. I mean, this apartment is like some "single storey old europian house with newer furniture not from that era",and believe me, that guy has not much taste to speak of.

ok. i'll tell you more next time.

I Moved!

Ok. so this is my new blog from now on. i know the skin sucks, but seriously, i can't be bothered. my xanga blog will no longer be in use, and this will be my main blog from now on. will post a proper post soon, but not now.
